The Veps story
Veps are a four piece band from Oslo, Norway, that consists of Laura (guitar), June (bass), Maja (drums) and Helena (keys/piano).
Having known each other ever since elementary school, Helena, Laura, June and Maja started the band at 14 and arrived on the Norwegian indie scene at age 17 when they released two singles on their own label before getting signed to Kanine Records in 2021.
Both «Do I Hear A Maybe?» and «Funny Things» showcased a songwriting sensibility far beyond their years. With a seamless blend of 90s indie aesthetic and classic pop hooks, Veps (which is the Norwegian word for wasp, by the way) already have their very own, fully formed sound.
Their first EP 'Open The Door', released through Kanine Records in 2021, consists of six tracks, and the band describes it like this:
'Open The Door' is a love letter to our teenage years. It’s a coming of age record, but as we’re still 17, maybe we can say that it’s more like coming of age in real time?
In 2022 the Veps debut album, 'Oslo Park', was released on Kanine Records on November 18. Continuing to dish out indie pop bangers with a carefree, DIY attitude, 'Oslo Park' is Veps at their most dynamic. The album is available digitally at Bandcamp.
Fast forward to 2024 Veps delivered another collection of indie pop bangers on their second album ‘Dedicated To:’. Finding a sound with a new sense of maturity and freedom, the band haven’t strayed far from their raw, DIY ethics on the LP.
In 2025, still only in their 22nd year on planet Earth, they have been signed to Swedish cult label PNKSLM, entering a new phase of their already illustrious career.
